A Future Teacher
I picked up Anna from school last Thursday, as I almost always do, and peeked in the door to see what she was doing. On this particular day, she was sitting a chair with a book in her hand facing the class like a teacher would do and was reading to the class. She had a few students listening, the rest were playing with toys. I opened the door and said, "Anna, are you reading a book to the class?" She smiled shyly and shook her head yes. Her teacher said to me " She does that almost everyday." Later that night she felt encouraged enough to come sit on my bed and asked if she could read two books to me. I said of course and she read two books. Now she puts the expression in her face, and her voice just like she is mimicking her teacher and reads the book by reading the pictures and really gets into telling some story about the pictures. We also went through the same ritual Friday night in the play room.

First Musical
While my family attended the Mineral Wells Junior High and High School choir concert in December, Andrew and Anna heard the words "Charlie Brown" which got their attention and realized that there was going to be a musical on the same stage later on. After the concert, Andrew ran up to me and said, "Anna and I want to see Charlie Brown." I said, "OK, we can do that." So Saturday night the 23rd, Alan and I took Andrew and Anna to see their very first live musical. I of course, was thrilled and enjoyed watching Andrew giggle and laugh at some of our choir students. Anna liked the girls singing.
I discovered that evening that a former theatre student of mine from Midland Christian is the girlfriend of our new Theatre teacher. Her parents were there too and we had a reunion. What a small world.

An OU fan's worst nightmare!
All this week Alan has devoted to wearing burnt orange. Even his boss Van Gravitt said, "I'm assuming after Thursday you will go back to wearing something other than burnt orange." Alan said, "Well if they win, I will wear it on Friday as well." Van and his family are OU and Tech fans.
This morning we got the news that both of our schools were closed due to the ice. So Alan puts on the whole outfit. There is simply too much of this ugly burnt orange color in his wardrobe. He really should think about wearing more red.
