A Few Days Away From Home

Andrew and Anna went to Midland to spend a few days with their Grandparents and Aunt. They were so excited about the trip and leaving Mom and Dad behind. Alan and I had plans of our own. We cleaned out each of the kids rooms' and found stashes of candy in Andrew's room (sounds like someone else I know). We cleaned out the playroom, laundry room, kitchen, our bedroom, and the home office all in just three days. It is amazing what we can get done when it is just Alan and me in the house.

We also celebrated our 13Th Wedding Anniversary on Thursday the 10Th. We didn't have a babysitter for our actual anniversary, May 30, so we waited for this week and went to Texas de Brazil. It was very good and the bread they bring to the table is gluten free!

Anna never talks to anyone on the phone including her own parents. She says she needs to see that person in front of her to talk to her. Saturday night when we called to talk to Andrew, she asked to talk to me..........I was shocked! She said, "Mommy, I want to come home." It was the saddest voice I had heard. I wanted to jump in the car and drive 4 hours to get her. We did arrive in Midland at 4:15 on Sunday afternoon. Anna jumped in my arms and held on tight to me. She had the biggest, prettiest smile. She did not let go of me either........she would put her hands on my face and stare at me with a big smile and hugged me. She did this routine several times. We went out to eat with the Weavers and she put her chair right next to mine and scooted as close to me as possible. I even had to hold her for her to go to sleep. I feel very appreciated! One of the first things she said to me was, "I missed you Mommy," and "I want to go home." I told her we were not going home til Saturday. She asked me, "Are you going to leave again?" I said, "I have a class in Lubbock on Wednesday and Thursday." She said, "I am coming with you!" This was not the first time Anna had been away from me for this length of time either but for some reason she needed me and that is OK with me.
