Our Peach Tree

We have a peach tree in our backyard, unfortunately it has had a hard spring with the strong winds. Half of it was destroyed by the wind. We were able to keep the other half alive and Alan, Andrew and Anna and I picked the rest of them today. They are juicy and sweet!

The Last Day of First Grade and Daycare

Friday, May 28, 2010 was Andrew's last day of first grade and Anna's last day of daycare. I am glad I was in Austin for State Solo and Ensemble contest because to leave Mrs. Pugh (Andrew's) and Mrs. Amanda (Anna's) was hard for me. It would have been hard to watch Anna give a hug goodbye to her best friends Brooklyn and Kieren. I can only pray that Anna will have the incredible opportunity to have Mrs. Pugh for her first grade teacher in three years. Once I am done with the District wide Breakfast this Friday I will be done........let summer fun begin!!!!

Awards Day

Andrew's Awards Chapel was Tuesday, May 25, 2010. He received the A Honor Roll Award, The Outstanding Citizenship Award, The Fruit of the Spirit "Goodness" Award, and was one of two students to receive the Art Excellence Award in First Grade. Way to go Andrew!!!!

Happy Birthday Andrew!

Andrew turned 7 years old today. Seems impossible! We started out by going to church of course, and Andrew sang one song with me on the praise team this morning. It has a part where the kids sing by themselves. This was the second Sunday that Andrew got the nerve to come up and sing it with me. After church we went to Burger King, then went home and I put the finishing touches on Andrew's cake. We then had his party.....opened presents, had cake, then went to Fort Worth to shop at Toys R Us and went to Red Lobster for Andrew's Birthday Dinner. He loves to get crab legs. We did not have a huge party, just the four of us. With everything I had going on at school this past week, it was just too difficult to pull one together. He enjoyed taking his gift card and money he received and shop for what he wanted. Happy Birthday Andrew!

A Day at Six Flags

On Saturday, May 8, I along with my assistant and his family, took over 50 kids plus chaperons to Six Flags as a celebration of the year. I also took Andrew and Anna with me. Alan did not go because of a Sports Banquet/lock in the night before. It was a cool day and nothing major went wrong.

One of my students did get lost and sent me a text message 3 minutes before our meeting deadline. I sent one of my Moms to rescue her. It is amazing how 15 year olds, especially those who tend to be tough, still get scared when they are lost. Reminds me of the time in Houston when I missed the bus and attempted to walk home and got lost. What was I thinking?

We took two buses, Mac and Dana were on the bus with the 7th grade. Anna grabbed Clara's hand (Mac and Dana's daughter) and got on the 7th grade bus with her. Amazing that she did not ride with me. Korey ( Mac and Dana's Son, which by the way Clara and Korey are twins) and Andrew rode with me on the 8th grade bus. Both kids thought it was so fun to ride the bus.

I could not have asked for a more pleasant trip with Junior High Kids. I will miss my 8th grade girls.......but wait I still get to teach them at the High School next year :)

Anna's second party

Anna gave specific directions about her party this year. 1st Rachel (her cousin) had to be there and 2nd I was to make her a Tinkerbell cake. That is all she cared about. While we celebrated her birthday with her Aunt and Grandparents in Midland last weekend, we had her second party today.

She is so excited that she has turned "4" she tells everyone (that she isn't afraid to talk to) that she is four years old now.
