Lazarus, come out!
As promised it is Andrew's turn to shine. Andrew has done very well in first grade this year. He has managed to hold on to straight A's and now he can read just about everything around town or in a store. The other day we were in a store and Andrew said, "Bonus Buys." I looked at him and said, "You can read that? How did you know that word was bonus?" He just smiled and said, "Because I can read." Alan and I always spell words to each other when we do not want the kids to hear what we are saying. That is soon going to be ending because he can spell words too.
He loves to lead prayer at meal time and does a great job for a 6 year old. He will pray for every family member to thanking God for the fruits and vegetables. He and I had a conversation about God made food vs. Man made food. I was telling him how the food God made was meant for us to eat and keep us healthy and that the man made food has things in it that is not good for our bodies. So that has prompted Andrew to thank God for the fruits and vegetables that He made. I was very proud of him in Chapel last week for leading the closing prayer. He did a really good job and it seemed natural for him to lead that prayer in front of all those people. Of course, I am biased.
He is very helpful around the house and is always concerned when someone is sick. He loves to draw and create projects to do around the house. He has made an airplane, turned his room into a movie theater with mood lighting and is currently working on a Lego world. He still loves football and says he can't wait to play for his Dad some day. I on the other hand.....well, I will be praying a lot during his football adventures.
Andrew made a tomb of Lazarus in Bible class several weeks ago. I thought it was a really clever. Andrew knows all about the story of Lazarus and Jesus raising him from the dead. He loves going to Church and really gets extremely upset if he misses because he is sick or bad weather. He brought the project and home and yelled "Lazarus! Come out!"
