Summer Vacation 2014 Part 1

We finally after three years got to go away for a vacation.  We started our trip in Weatherford where we stayed with our friends from church, the Jones's.  We had fun catching up and our kids enjoyed playing with each other.  Then I sang with the Praise Team from church at Peach Festival.  After that and buying some peaches, we headed to my parents house in Tennessee.

We went to church where my parents go to church and was able to meet and thank in person some of the people that prayed for me during my illness.  We had some Corky's BBQ which is our favorite in Memphis.  My mom even got us stocked up on their BBQ sauce so we can have a little Memphis BBQ throughout the year.

We relaxed and Andrew and Anna played.  Andrew created a space shuttle out of magnetics.  He loves to create and build things.  He is great at it.

Then my Mom took us to Incredible Pizza.  It was so much fun for the kids and I even had a gluten free pizza!  Anna wanted a stuffed animal out of one of those machines that are impossible to get anything out of.  I tried three times and Anna said, "Let me try!"  Guess what?  With one try, she gets her yellow elephant.  How does that happen?  We played bowling and mini golf and the kids played a lot of other games.

My Dad brought home the kids some rockets to blast outside.  They had fun with that!

We ate at some great places and our last lunch with my parents was at Rendezvous in downtown Memphis.  After lunch, we walked over to Beale St. and went to the five and dime and our favorite music store and bought a CD.  We also headed over to the Peabody Hotel to see the ducks and to show the kids Francis Scott Key's Piano.  We then headed to West Monroe, LA

We enjoyed our time in Weatherford and our time with my parents in Memphis.  Hopefully, we can get back to Memphis every summer like we use to

Spending quality time with Anna

I have been back and forth to Weatherford several times lately to rehearse with the Oak Ridge Praise Team for Peach Festival.  One of the times that I went, Anna did not do well with me gone.  When I got home late one Friday night, she refused to go to her bed and wanted to crawl in bed with me.  She cried and cried when her Dad took her to bed.  She ended up in my lap crying herself to sleep.  I asked her the next morning why she was so upset?  She said, "I missed you and I just wanted to be with you".  So the following Tuesday, I took her with me.  We had a fun "Girls" time.  We stopped for lunch at La Madeleine and did a little shopping at the Outlet Mall.  I bought the Frozen CD and we listened and sang Frozen the whole way to Weatherford and the whole way back home.  On our way home, we stopped at Chili's for a free kids meal and then made another trip to the outlet mall.  The look on her face was priceless.  She had fun just being with me.  Her love language is definitely quality time..........and gifts is her secondary.  We found a Twinkie decorated into a minion.  She ate that on the last part of our trip home.  This is a memory that I will hold as precious.  Now I need to plan a Mother/Son date with Andrew.

Bowling

We signed up for the "Kids Bowl For Free" and the closest bowling ally that is participating is only 30 minutes away.  Anna has never bowled except on the Wii game, which by the way, she kills us at.  I did terrible but I still had fun watching my kids bowl and spending time with Alan.
