Salt Water Therapy

The last time we went to the beach was the Saturday after the school year ended.  It has been way too long.  Every time we tried to go back, a storm was brewing in Corpus or someone came down sick or we needed to save money or Alan and I were just too tired.  Anna has been saying for several months, "We need to go to the beach!"  Yesterday, she came in to Alan and me and said, "I want to go to the beach tomorrow!"  Alan had made plans to attend a baseball game and finish yard work so he said for the two of us to take off and go.  Knowing what kinds of stress I am facing the next several weeks, I decided that sand and salt water would do us both some good.

Anna was so excited this morning, she was packing up everything we needed.  One of my favorite movies and TV show is Gidget.  I bought the DVD of the TV series with Sally Field and Anna has been watching those episodes with me.  Watching Gidget, Anna knew apparently how to pack for the day.  Anna is so fun to watch.

It takes about an hour and half to get to the beach.  We went to Mustang Island which is a state park and it was not too crowded.  Definitely worth paying five dollars to be on a family friendly beach.  We set up our area and Anna ran to put her feet in the water while I enjoyed lying on the comforter facing the water.  We both wrote in the sand, played in the water, had a picnic supper and took a long walk on the beach collecting sea shells that had just washed up.

Hopefully next time Alan and Andrew can go,  I missed them being there today but I did enjoy the fun girl time with my daughter.
