Star Wars and American Girl

Back in November I promised Andrew a date and told him he could choose where and what we did.  He chose to go see the Star Wars movie again.  I was perfectly happy with that because I have been a Star Wars fan since the first time my Dad took my brother and me to see the original in the movie theater.  My cousins in California were also die hard fans and we always played Star Wars when we went to visit.

So this past Monday, I took Andrew to the 10:30 AM showing at the River Center Mall.  Those seats are SO comfortable.  They are just like a recliner, I could have taken a nap but I was too interested in the movie to sleep.  After the movie, we went down stairs to Chili's and had lunch and Andrew wanted to shop around for video games, Star Wars gear etc. I always enjoy one on one time with my kids and loved every minute of our Mom and Son date.

Tuesday and Wednesday were spent cleaning, storing and getting rid of things around the house.  Anna asked me Tuesday if I would take her to the American Girl Doll store in Houston and eat lunch in the Bistro and spend her Christmas money.  Houston is about three hours away and I was not too thrilled at first about making that drive.  However, I tried to make reservations on Wednesday in order not to be on the road on New Years Eve but they were completely booked. So I booked our lunch for Thursday and we left our house at 7:30AM  to be at the store by 10:30AM.  The smile and excitement on her face was absolutely priceless.  It was worth the lack of sleep and the energy it took to drive on one of the craziest days of the year just to see her face.  She loved every minute and of course I did too!  I have always loved dolls and I have a good time just looking at all the dolls and their accessories too.  Of course, eating lunch with Anna and her doll is a lot of fun too!  After she spent all of her money, we decided to go check out Katy Mills Mall since it was on the way home and it put us closer to home.  I planned for us to leave the mall at 3:00 which gave us enough time to get gas, a snack and a drink before heading home.  We got home about 5:40 before it got too dark.

The last week of 2015 was a treat spent individually with each child and we made memories that I will never forget.  Now I need a date with Alan ;-)
